6 Ways to Show Your Child Respect

Eye Contact- your kids are just like you… they are just tiny humans. 👁 If you were chatting to a friend and they were not making eye contact you would feel pretty bad… You would feel pretty small and unworthy of their time.
Listen to their stories- 👂 I know, I know, I know… this is probably the 20th time this hour that you have heard this story 🤪… but this story is everything to them. It could be the most boring story about an ant on the sidewalk, but in their small tiny worlds, this ant may have been the best thing they saw today because they are learning and exploring and they want to share that with YOU!
Don’t talk about them in front of them as if they are not present (ESPECIALLY if it is negative) - They are humans. They have feelings. If you do not treat a dear friend this way, do not treat your child this way. Involve them in the conversation. Share positive stories about them in front of them. 💕
Show sympathy- when a toy breaks, when a friend treats them poorly, when they drop their ice cream, show them sympathy. Small problems in your eyes are SO BIG in their small worlds.
Choices- the choices you make in your life make you who you are. You make choices every minute of everyday. Give them some controlled power. Let them choose between two choices. They can pick their snack, their shirt, their shoes, dinner, where to sit at dinner, which water bottle to use, which books to read at night, which park to go to, etc…. Give options and let them pick!
Show interest in their interests- I really dislike playing… 🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️ I don’t like it at all. It’s terrible. BUT I know that if I can designate 10 minutes to sit on the ground and play with the Paw Patrol toys it would make their day!
