Emotion Play

Big feels take place in this house everyday. Some feelings can get rather large. 😜 With a 2 and a 4 year old I want to make sure that they not only understand these feelings, but they know all feelings are OK. 💕

🏠 Home is a safe place where everyone is free to express and feel however they feel. The tricky part, as a parent, is helping these small humans express their feelings in a constructive and appropriate way.

One night I quickly made these emotion faces. I cut them in half so that the kids can mix and match all of the expressions. The next day the kids and I read a book about feelings. 📚 This book can be found at your local library. It has little words, BUT what I LOVE about this book is that the images are real. These are real kids expressing real emotions. My kids spent a lot of times looking at the images and hypothesizing 💭 why the children in the image feel the way they do.

🌟 Later in the day, we sat together and read a very special book called What Should Danny Do? By Ganit and Adir Levy. What is so special about this book is that it is a Power to Choose book. It is 9 stories in 1; an Interactive book that empowers kids with the understanding that their choices will shape their day. In the story Danny shows a lot of emotions throughout the day and as a reader, the kids are given the opportunity to decide how Danny deals with these large feelings and emotions. Make sure to check it out. It is a must read!
