No More Excuses

I am a very prompt person, running late gives me so much anxiety! 😟 But, when I am running late, my brain automatically starts to generate excuses 🤔 It’s a defence mechanism. Why do we do that? I was watching a documentary years ago that explained that it is something that begins at a very young age.

Why did you hit your sister?

Why didn’t you do your homework?

Why would you draw on the wall?

When we ask these things of small children (toddlers includes) what are we really looking for? Are they going to have an answer that will please us? Doubtful 🤨.

All these questions do is prompt the young children to generate excuses and sometimes lies (such as: I didn’t do that, she hit me first, it was an accident). Let’s change our language to help break this habit!  🙌🏼🙌🏼
