Some ice cold LIFE SKILLS

Scooping and transferring objects are two different life skills. Both of which are so important for toddler development. They are major skills that you and I use every day.
In fact, they may have been one of the first skills I used this morning around 5:45am as I scooped the coffee grounds out the canister and transferred them into the coffee filter.
When toddlers scoop and transfer they are exploring…
Gravity. They notice how objects will drop.
Cause and effect. When they rotate or dump the spoon, they cause the ice to fall.
Weight. The spoon of ice feels a lot heavier than an empty spoon.
Fine motor skills. Scooping with a spoon allows your toddler to work on those muscles and motions they need to learn to feed and serve themselves.
